Current Work

These large scale oil paintings interpret the western landscape from a stark, but sensuous point of view. They combine intense observation of the elements of land and sky with an intentional violation of the usual relationships. I tend to treat the forms of land and sky much as one might treat still life objects in a studio—moving them around and relating them in terms of a guiding idea rather than a customary "view."
